Daniel Pennie is a practitioner of both Art and Music. He studied BA Fine Art at the University of the West of England, MA/PG Dip Contemporary Music & Culture at Bath Spa University and gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Reading. As well as exhibiting artwork, composing and performing with Internationally acclaimed musicians & artists, he is also a member of the Mad Band… ‘Formed by founding member of King Crimson Michael Giles around a decade ago, the Mad Band in their present form are to all intents and purposes a continuation of that hugely influential group, including as it does, modern composer and also former Crimson associate Keith Tippett’. (Gordon, J – DOA).

As well as over 15 years teaching experience in Art & Design, specialising in Fine Art, he is currently a Senior Music Lecturer at Southampton Solent University in the School of Media, Arts & Technology.  He has also been appointed External Examiner for Contemporary Art Practice at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen.

Contemporary Music for the Moving-Image.

NIYE merges programmed pieces with live instruments, combining the controllable technical world and the often unpredictable aspects of live improvisation. The duo (A D Chivers & Daniel Pennie) have established themselves as trusted composers and sound designers, working for a wide array of clients including avant-garde film director Peter Tscherkasskyn and legendary composer & pianist Keith Tippett, while also composing for feature films, games, art installations and conventional opening titles.
